Sending Broadcast Message to Devices

An Administrator can broadcast messages to the users' Android, iOS, Mac and Windows 10 devices from Scalefusion. These messages are displayed as a pop-up and will be saved on the device for future reference.

This feature is quite useful wherever admins want to send a common message or make an important announcement.

Prerequisites

  1. Devices should be enrolled with Scalefusion
  2. For Windows devices, two additional settings are required viz.
    1. In Windows Device Profile, under Settings > General Settings, Enable broadcast Messages view should be toggled On
    2. Scalefusion MDM agent v2.0.0 or higher should be installed on devices.
  3. For Mac Devices,
    1. Scalefusion - MDM client app should be installed on devices.
    2. The devices should have Mac version 10.15 and above

How to send Broadcast message

  1. Login to Scalefusion Dashboard and navigate to Utilities > Broadcast Messaging
  2. Click on Create New Message.
  3. This opens create message dialog box. Enter the following:
    1. Sender's Name: This is pre-populated with the name you have in profile. You can change this. In the broadcast message, the receiver will get to see the name entered here
    2. Compose the message in Your Message section
    3. Additional Settings (These apply on Android and Windows devices):
      1. Keep Ringing: This would make the broadcast message keep ringing on the device when pushed until the end user reads it. This setting is applicable only on Android devices on which Scalefusion is running in Kiosk mode
      2. Show Message in Dialog Box: If checked, this would display the broadcast message on device in a dialog box.
    4. Click Next
    5. Select the Device Groups / User Groups / Devices on which you want to send the message and click Send Message

The message will be instantly sent to the selected devices.

You can use the search feature in the create message box to look for a particular device, by typing in device / device group name
On Android, iOS and macOS, messages can also be sent from Devices > View Details > Gear icon. Click on Send Message from the options under gear icon.

Viewing Broadcast message on the device

On Android Devices, the broadcast message flashes as a pop-up with Read and Skip buttons. Clicking on Read takes you to Admin Messages area where you can read the messages.

The messages are stored in Admin Messages section. Hence, if you choose skip on the pop-up, they are available to be read later from Admin Messages (accessible by clicking on three dots on the top right)

If it is a BYOD, the broadcast message is available in Messages section in the Work Profile

iOS

On iOS devices, it comes as a pop-up and saved in Messages

Windows

On Windows also it can be viewed as pop-up. When Ok is clicked, the complete message is shown up.

macOS

On macOS devices, it comes as a pop-up and saved in Scalefusion - MDM client app > Messages section

The Broadcast Messages management for Mac has been enhanced to sync the messages periodically and remove the messages that have been deleted on the dashboard.

Additional Actions on Broadcast Messages

The messages that have been broadcasted are displayed on the dashboard with following details:

  1. Message: The message you have composed
  2. Sender: Name of sender
  3. Sent At: Date & Time at which message is sent
  4. Acknowledged / Sent: Count of devices on which the message is acknowledged (delivered) and count of how many devices it has been sent to.
  5. Actions:
    1. View: You can view the complete broadcast message along with other related details. To view, click on the eye icon. A dialog box will open. It will show the Device Name, the Acknowledgement Status of message and the date & time at which the broadcast message was delivered. From here, you can also perform the following functions:
      1. Filter messages by Groups: Groups drop-down lists both Device Groups and User Groups.
      2. Filter messages by Acknowledgement Status
      3. Resend: Clicking on Resend button resends the message on the same device groups / user groups / devices.

  2. This opens Global Message Settings dialog box, where you can check/uncheck the following and submit:
