Whitelisting Websites - iOS

Whitelisting websites or allowing only certain websites is a critical feature for a Lock down solution. We support this feature for iOS devices as well, but we support it in the format that iOS supports. Please find below the steps to create a Whitelist Website and some notes related to it.

Creating a Whitelist Website

  1. Login to your MobiLock Dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Device Management > Whitelist Websites section.
  3. Click on Whitelist a Website button.
  4. You would see a Dialog with 3 tabs, DETAILS | Android Settings | iOS Settings
  5. Under the DETAILS tab
    1. Enter the name for the shortcut
    2. Enter the URL for the shortcut
    3. Choose if the Shortcut should be visible on Home screen or not.
  6. Navigate to the iOS Settings tab and
    1. Choose if the Shortcut is removable by user
    2. Choose if the Shortcut should open-in full screen.
    3. Upload a Logo
    4. Note, that all these settings are applicable only if the Shortcut is made visible under DETAILS tab.
Behaviour - The Whitelist Websites that are not visible on Home Screen, only appear as Bookmarks in Safari.

Publishing Whitelist Websites

The Whitelisted websites can be published in the following two ways:

1. Publishing from Whitelist Website section
  1. Navigate to Device Management > Whitelist Websites.
  2. Click on the Publish icon Next to the Whitelisted Website
  3. Choose the Device Profile(s) where you want to publish it and click on PUBLISH.
  4. The shortcut will be published to all the devices in the selected profiles.
2. Publishing from Device Profile
  1. Navigate to Device Management > Device Profiles
  2. Select the Profile where you want to publish it and click on EDIT icon
  3. Once in the Edit mode, navigate to Whitelist Websites and select the shortcuts that you want to enable.
  4. Click NEXT until you reach the Restrictions page.
  5. Click UPDATE PROFILE
  6. The shortcut will be published to all the devices in the selected profile.
Currently MobiLock does not allow for wildcards for URLs.
Safari needs to be allowed in the Device Profile for the shortcuts to work.
