Device Reports

Through Scalefusion dashboard you can generate a wide range of reports that provide important information on its managed devices, ranging from Data Usage, Device Inventory, Device Vitals and many more. These reports allow you to proactively monitor the health and activity of endpoints across your organization more effectively.

This document gives a description of Device Reports that give all important information related to your managed devices on Scalefusion.

We have the following device reports:

  1. Data Usage
  2. App Version
  3. Device Inventory
  4. Sim Swaps
  5. Unlock Attempts
  6. Device Vitals
  7. Device Availability
  8. ScreenTime

How to access

  1. Sign in to Scalefusion Dashboard
  2. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports
  3. Click on the report name that has to be accessed

Who can access

The reports are tied up to the plan that a customer purchases and hence divided in three categories:

  1. Basic: All customers in Pro and Business plan. New Users are allocated Basic during the trial period
  2. Legacy: All customers in a non-Enterprise plan
  3. Advanced: All customers in Enterprise plan

Below is a description of all device reports.

Data Usage

Through Data usage report, user can get:

  • WiFi data Vs Mobile data usage for the selected device / device group
  • App wise data usage like which app consumed how much data

Platforms: Android, iOS

Category: Legacy or Advanced

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on Data Usage
  2. Select Filters

Filter

Description

Date Range

Select the date range. By default you can generate one month's report where default is today's date

Show Report For

Two options here:

  • Device: Lets you select a particular device for which you want to check data usage
  • Device Group: Lets you select a device group and shows data consumed by devices under that device group

Report Output

Show Report for Device

Once you select a device, the report will generate and show up. It gives following details:

  • Mobile Data Usage
  • Wi-Fi Data Usage
  • Total Data Usage
  • Graphical representation of Data Usage
  • Data Consumed by apps

Show Report for Device Group

Selecting a group shows a tabulated list of all devices, with data usage in three different ways:

  • Device Wise Consumption - Lists devices with their mobile and wi-fi data usage that are part of that device group. Clicking on any device's name brings up graphical representation of data consumed.

  • App Wise Consumption - Lists apps and corresponding data (mobile, wi-fi, total) consumed by each app
  • App Per Device Consumption - Shows data consumed by the selected app on each device. For this,
    • Select application - Select app from the list of applications. You can select more than one application
    • Filter by Device(s) - You can also filter and see data usage of the selected app on a particular device

Additional Features

  1. Download - The reports can be downloaded in CSV format through Download as CSV button
  2. Search - Use search feature to search for a particular device or app from the results
  3. The graph can be filtered by checking / unchecking Mobile Data Usage and Wi-fi usage options
  4. Hovering over any bar on the graph shows mobile and wifi data usage figures separately

App Version

The app version report shows app version of all the apps installed on the selected devices. With app version report, users can see which device has which version of app(s) installed so that they can better manage their app deployment.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on App Version
  2. Select Filter

Show Report For

Select any one from the drop-down:

  • Devices: Lets you select a particular device on which you want to see the app versions. Only those devices where applications are installed/published are listed here.
  • Device Groups: Lets you select a device group and shows app versions of all the devices in that group. The group(s) which have at least one device with applications published/installed are listed here.

Report Output

Show Report for Devices

Once you select a Device, all app details are generated in tabular form. Following details are available:

  • App Name
  • App Version
  • Last Updated On

You can also check the version of any specific app, by selecting the app from the App type drop-down

Show Report for Device Groups

Selecting a group shows a tabulated list of all devices, with corresponding apps and their versions. These can also be filtered by:

  1. App type - Select app from the list of applications.
  2. Device type - Lists OS types viz., Android, iOS, Windows. Select an OS type and it filters and shows application version details as per selected OS.
  3. Filter by Device - Lists all the devices of the device group. Select a device and see the app version of the apps installed on it.

Additional Features

  1. Download - The report can be downloaded in CSV format from 'Download as CSV' button
  2. Sync Device Apps - Syncs app versions with the device

Device Inventory

The device inventory report provides details of all the managed devices in the organisation. The Admins choose the inventory details that they want and then download a report.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on Device Inventory
  2. Select Filters to configure your report

Filter

Description

Select Group(s)

Lists all Device Groups and Sub-Groups. More than one group can be selected.

Select Device Type

Lists all OS types. More than one OS can be selected.

  • Android
  • iOS
  • Windows
  • Mac

Select License Status

Select Device's License status from the following:

  • Licensed
  • Unlicensed

Select Management State

Lists Device's Status. Multiple status can be selected

  • Any
  • Locked/Managed
  • Unlocked/Unmanaged
  • Inactive
  • EMM Managed
  • Non EMM Managed

Select Fields

Lists all custom and compulsory fields. Check the fields you require in the report. Following are mandatory and pre-selected:

  • Device Name
  • OS
  • OS Version

  1. Once field selections are done, click on Download Report. The report will be downloaded in CSV format containing fields as configured by the user.
Not all of the fields will be applicable to all the OS types. In such cases the reports would have empty or N/A value.

Additional Features

  1. Set this as Default template - The selected combination of fields can be set as default for this user account admin.

Unlock Attempts

The Unlock Attempts report provides information about the event of failed unlocks for the selected device/device group. If a user tries to exit Scalefusion (unlock) from the device by entering wrong Exit passcode more than 3 consecutive times, the report captures and shows this information.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on Unlock Attempts
  2. Select Filters

Description

Date Range

Select the date range for which report has to be generated. By default one month's date range is pre-selected

Show Report For

Select any one from the drop-down:

  • Devices: Lets you select a particular device on which you want to check failed unlock attempts.
  • Device Groups: Lets you select a device group and shows failed unlock attempts of all the devices in that group.

Report Output

Show Report for Devices

Once you select a Device, all details are generated in tabular form:

  • Image: Image of the user who was trying to unlock device
  • Device Name: Device Name, selected in filter
  • Group Name: Corresponding Device Group name
  • Address: The address of the place where unlock attempt has taken place
  • Intrusion On: Date and time of the incident


Clicking on image shows enlarged view along with map view of location and other details of the incident.

Show Report for Device Groups

Selecting a group shows a tabulated list of all device groups, with corresponding devices and other details of failed unlock attempts

Additional Features

  1. Download - The report can be downloaded in CSV format from 'Download as CSV' button
  2. Search - Search by device name or imei number can be performed, to search for a particular record or set of records in the report

Device Vitals

Device Vitals provides all the important information related to your managed devices. The Admins choose the filters based on their requirements and then download report.

Platforms: Android, iOS, Windows, Mac

Category: Advanced

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on Device Vitals
  2. Select Filters to configure your report

Filter

Description

Select Duration

The report can be generated for:

  • Today: Current Date (This is selected by default)
  • Yesterday: Previous day to the current date
  • Last Week: Week is calculated from Monday to Sunday
  • Last 30 Days: Previous one month starting from today's date
  • Current Month: Starting from 1st of the current month till current date
  • Custom Dates: Choose the dates as per requirement. By default, three months date range is pre-selected

Select Date

Based on the selection above (in Select Duration), the Select Date field populates the dates

Select Group(s)

Lists all Device Groups and Sub-Groups. More than one group can be selected. If you want a report on all groups, select 'All Groups' which is selected by default.

Device Type

Lists all OS types. More than one OS can be selected.

  • Android
  • iOS
  • Windows
  • Mac

By default 'All Devices' is selected

Battery Level Less than(<=%)

Lets Admin filter the data by battery %

This filter is applicable on Android, Windows and iOS only

Available Storage Space Less than Equal to

Lets Admin filter the data by Storage space. It can be selected in MB or GB.

This filter is applicable on Android, iOS and Mac only

Show External Storage Space on Android Devices

This is a toggle and if turned on, the external storage space on Android devices will be revealed in the report

Data Usage More than Equal to

Select data usage limit of the device in MB or GB

This filter is applicable on Android and iOS only

Inactive for More than Equal to

Select if the device has been in inactive state in Hours/Weeks/Months

Management State

Lists Device's Status. Multiple status can be selected

  • Locked/Managed
  • Unlocked/Unmanaged

Encryption State

Select device's encryption state from the following:

  • Encrypted
  • UnEncrypted

By default, 'All States' are selected

This filter is applicable on Android, Windows and Mac only

  1. Once field selections are done, click on Download Report. The report will be downloaded in CSV format containing fields as configured by the user.

SIM Swaps

This report provides information about any SIM swaps taken place on the devices. If on a managed device, mobile sim is changed, removed or inserted, that information is captured because it is treated as security threat.

Platform: Android

Category: Legacy or Basic or Advanced

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on SIM Swaps
  2. Select Filters

Description

Date Range

Select the date range. By default you can generate one month's report where default is today's date

Show Report For

Two options here:

  • Device: Lets you select a particular device for which you want to check SIM swaps
  • Device Group: Lets you select a device group and shows SIM swaps for devices under that device group

Report Output

Once you select a device or device group, the report will generate and show up. It gives following details in a tabular format:

  • Device Name: Name of the device
  • IMEI No.: IMEI number of the selected device
  • Group Name: Device Group name to which the device belongs
  • Intrusion On: Exact date and time at which SIM swap activity took place
  • Message: Description of activity (Sim card changed, Sim card removed, or Sim card inserted)

Additional Features

  1. Download - The report can be downloaded in CSV format from 'Download as CSV' button
  2. Search - To search for a particular record or set of records in the report from results, search by device name or imei number can be performed

Device Availability

Device availability report gives information about devices availability, that is, their Active/Inactive status and other related details during a selected timeframe. The Admins choose the filters based on their requirements and then download report.

Platforms: Android, iOS, Windows, Mac

Category: Basic, Legacy or Advanced

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on Device Availability
  2. Select Filters to configure your report

Filter

Description

Select Date

Select the date range. By default current date is selected

Select Group(s)

Lists those groups which have at least one device. Select Group(s) for which you need to generate report. By default, all groups are selected. It is mandatory to select group(s)

Select Device(s)

Lists all Devices and the Devices available from selected Groups. Select device(s). By default, all devices are selected

  1. Once field selections are done, click on Download Report. The report will be downloaded in CSV format based on the filters selected by the user.

Report Output

Following details related to the device availability are fetched in the downloaded CSV file

  • Device Name
  • Device Group
  • From: Time from when device's record is logged for status update
  • To: Time till when device's record is logged for status update
    The time will display as per user's preferred time zone selected in Account Details on Scalefusion dashboard.
  • Availability Status: Shows device's status as Active/Inactive/NA
    • Active - Device is online
    • Inactive - Device is offline or inaccessible due to being switched off or no network connection
    • NA - Unable to fetch device status
  • Duration: Indicates how long device has been Active/Inactive. For eg.: 3 hrs, 3 days, 1 Month

Additional Features

  1. Sync Device Status - The admins can Sync Devices for the latest availability status. This can be done through Sync Device Status. On clicking Sync Device Status button, the selected devices status and sync time gets updated.

ScreenTime

ScreenTime Reports help IT Admin see the usage time of devices and applications on devices.

It is a collection of Reports that lets the Admins know the time spent on the managed devices and on the apps installed on those devices. This is a collection of two reports,

  1. Device Usage: Active & Idle Times on a device based on device's Screen On and Screen Off times
  2. Application Usage: Application usage trends containing information like App with topmost usage, foreground time etc.

Platforms: Android

Category: Legacy or Advanced

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports & Workflows > Reports and click on ScreenTime
  2. Select Filters to configure your report

Filter

Description

Select Activity

Select one from the following:

  • Application Usage: Shows application's usage based on app's open time, during the selected duration.
  • Device Usage: Basing on the Screen ON/OFF events on the device, it collects the active and passive (idle) times of device(s)
By default 'Application Usage' is selected

Select Group

Lists Device Groups and Sub-Groups. Select a device group/sub-group.

Select Device

Lists all the enrolled devices. If a Group is selected, then it lists only the devices which are part of that group. Select a device.

Devices in both Kiosk and Agent mode are counted in App Usage

Select Application

This filter is displayed only when the activity type is Application usage. It is activated once a group or device is selected, and populates only those applications that have reported usage.

Select Date Range

Select the Date Range for which you want to check the usage.

By default, the start Date is 15 days from current date. Maximum time for which report can be viewed is 30 days from current date.

  1. After selecting filters, click on Show Report

Reports Output

Based on selected activity (Application Usage or Device Usage), the report gets generated each with a different set of details. Let's understand the information you get on selecting each.

Application Usage

The Application Usage Report gives an account of the app's usage on a device along with other related information. As a result, following details show up:

If no application is selected - Device wise list of most used app (on each device), are displayed:

  • Device Name: Name of the enrolled device
  • Active Duration: Total time the device was active based on device usage record
  • Most Used Application: The topmost used application on the device in this duration
  • Most Used Application Duration: The total duration for which the top most app was used
    With these details, admins can judge which apps are used mostly.
    For the devices in Agent mode, those apps will be taken into count which are under Scalefusion locked mode
  • See Details: Clicking on this opens a new dialog box showing graphically, the usage of apps on the device:
    • Overall Application Usage: Shows the total usage time of apps in the selected duration.
    • Average Per Day Application Usage: Shows the usage time of the apps on a per-day basis on an average, based on selected duration.
      If the app usage duration is in seconds or milliseconds then no bar will show up in the graph

If an application is selected in Application filter, that particular app's usage details are displayed:

  • Device Name: Name of the enrolled device
  • Active Duration: Total time the device was active based on device usage record
  • Application Foreground Time: The total time for which the app was in foreground on the device.
  • See Details: Clicking on this opens a new dialog box showing graphically, the daily usage of the selected app on the device. It also gives the app's Daily average active time.
Device Usage

The device usage report shows the overall time spent on a managed device. The usage is judged on the basis of device's active and idle times where Screen On is considered as Active and Screen Off being Idle. Following details show up:

  • Device Name: Name of the enrolled device(s)
  • Active Duration: Total time the device was active (Screen was On)
  • Idle Duration: Total time for which the device was idle (Screen was Off)
  • Average Active Duration: The average time for which device was active
    With these details, admins can judge the screen time spent on devices.
  • See Details: Clicking on this opens a new dialog box showing graphically, the active and idle times of device:
    • Overall Device Usage: Shows date wise usage of device. It includes each day of the selected month and also displays daily average active and idle times.
    • Activity Cohort: Shows device Usage (Active and Idle Times) in every three-hour time ranges, during the selected duration. This way you can know the hour ranges when the device is used most actively.
      Timezone is in UTC format
    • Weekly Cohort: Shows device usage on each day of the week so you can know on which days the device has been used actively.
Hovering over the bars on the graph shows exact active and idle times of the device.

Additional Features

  1. Download - The reports get downloaded in CSV format on clicking Download Report button. Separate reports get downloaded for Application Usage and Device Usage.
    For Device Usage, the report covers information under following heads:
    1. Device Name
    2. Device Group
    3. IMEI Number
    4. Serial Number
    5. Date Range
    6. Total Duration (Minutes)
    7. Device Active Duration (Minutes)
    8. Device Idle Duration (Minutes)
    9. Average Active Duration (Minutes)
    10. Average Idle Duration (Minutes)
    11. Most Active Hours
    12. Device usage Data

    For Application Usage, the report covers information under following heads:
    1. Device Name
    2. Device Group
    3. IMEI Number
    4. Serial Number
    5. Date Range
    6. Total Duration (Minutes)
    7. Most Used App
    8. Most Used App Duration (Minutes)
    9. App Usage Data
    The naming convention of the CSV files once downloaded, is automatically given based on the selected filters. For example, app_usage_report_07-09-to-22-09 would be the name of an Application Usage report for the date range 7th to 22nd September.
  2. Reset filters - The filters selected can be cleared and re-selected. The Reset button clears all filters.
